EXTRA JAM THIS WEEK…

January 18, 2011

There is an extra meeting of FAJ! this wednesday at the crown as we have to discuss the electric side of our lives. The talk will all be over very quickly and the playing and singing will take over. (Maybe a small beverage as well). Gareth

OHH WHAT A NIGHT…

January 6, 2011

Last night was great. Our Acoustic Jam has been running for two years now, and our little corner of the pub has never sounded better. We made a decision after Gareth, our founder suggested ‘wrapping up’ Open Mike Nights, which made a ton of sense to us all.

We’ve all been growing as musicians over the last two years, and the best forward (by general consensus) was agreed that we call it a day on Open Mike at the pub, and move on to pastures new.

We’re going to find a new venue to play loud and progress. There’s more than enough talent in our little group to create something special and grow as performers and artists. Acoustic jams will still be a firm fixture of our musical world… it’s always great fun to share a few beers and songs with friends; but it’s definitely time to move on and grow… watch this space.

Another wonderful evening, with friends old and new.  We went through plenty of mince pies and festive favourites, even some in French!  We even had a guest appearance from Lily the Labrador!

The stats helper monkeys at WordPress.com mulled over how this blog did in 2010, and here’s a high level summary of its overall blog health:

CHRISTMAS ACOUSTIC JAM…

FAME AND GLORY BECKONS…

November 30, 2010

I’m very pleased and proud to see my write-up of our last Acoustic Night in our local paper ‘THE COMMUNICATA’, with some of the nice photos too!  It just goes to show how GARETH’S hard work in getting a music scene going in the village is paying off…  VERY happy!

ACOUSTIC NIGHT is on as usual tomorrow night, 8:00PM ’til late, at The Old Crown in Fleckney, let’s hope it’s as much fun as usual, and we hope to see plenty of new faces!

WHAT A LOVELY EVENING…

November 4, 2010

Ahh, ACOUSTIC NIGHT.  Such a lovely way to unwind after a hard day’s work, playing songs with friends old and new and sinking a few pints… (It’s even better when the beer’s half price!)

Tunes old and new were played (or at least attempted!), and it was great fun for me backing up on the uke and occasional harmonica.  Dave and Gareth did a great rendition of  TOTO’S ‘Africa’, which we all ended joining in with at the end; Mike paid his respects to GREGORY ISSACS with a lovely version of ‘Nightnurse’, and also got some NEIL YOUNG into the set…

Malc was back from his travels, and brought his mix of blues and country to the fore; and Nick was putting in some great work on harmonies and backing… (Told you you were a star!)

It really was just one of those great evenings spent with friends, playing tunes and having fun, and let’s hope they long may they continue!

ACOUSTIC NIGHT is on the first Wednesday of the month at THE OLD CROWN in … a warm welcome is always ensured!
